Ordered this hitch and it worked perfect for what I needed just bought a teardrop trailer. Couldn't open up the tailgate on my Jeep so I ordered this extended hitch and I brought the ball out past my spare tire and the tailgate opens up now I have no problems. And I looked everywhere couldn't find one of this quality and at this price very reasonable the other ones hundreds of dollars didn't want to spend that much.

by:

This was the longest hitch ball mount I could find anywhere. I used it with a short extension for my 2021 T G so that I could open the back doors without hitting the trailer wheel crank. With my new trailer, Intact Flyer Discover, I don't need the extension and can still open the doors. Works well.

by:

I pull a 20 ft. Travel trailer and had jackknifed backing up twice. The truck taillight creased the trailer. So I bought the extra long drawbar and have not had any problems since. Now I can also open the tailgate without hitting the tounge Jack.

by:

This was a gift, the recipient was very excited to receive it, she will now be able to tow the ski boat behind her jeep, she couldn't before due to the spare tire interfering with her previous hitch.

by:

Great hitch ball mount!
Excellent construction,
easy to install
etrailer shipped the product very quickly and as promised

If you have a trailer with a short tongue, like I do, this Hidden Hitch Extra Long Ball Mount is a big help! I bought a 2021 Nissan Frontier, which has a taller tailgate than the Tacoma I previously used, and found that when the tailgate was down so I could see to back my trailer to load my boat, that I only had about 2 to 2-1/2 inches of clearance between the tailgate and the winch mounting post, and I would damage the tailgate and/or winch post when making a tight turn. I went online to find a longer hitch mount, and found this one. Not only does it solve the problem, but the longer hitch mount actually makes the trailer easier to back than a regular mount! The only negative I have to say is that the hole drilled in the long mount for the pin to go through to secure it to the hitch receiver was drilled offcenter, and as a result it is not flush in the receiver and tilts the longer hitch mount at a slight sideways angle. This results in the trailer hitch catching on the ball when I go to raise it, and you it takes the force of continuing to raise the trailer to get the hitch off the ball.

After a year the Hidden Hitch Extra Long Ball Mount is still the best option for me. It also makes it easier to back the trailer into my garage. Originally I needed a longer ball mount due to tailgate being too close to winch post, but pleasantly found out the longer hitch makes backing up easier.

by:

It was exactly what I needed. This helps clear the spare om the tailgate.

by:

This is exactly the product I needed to extend the hitch on my tent trailer. Now I can open the tailgate without unhitching the trailer.

by:

Needed to extend the hitch on my side by side. This did just the trick. Now I have room to crank the tongue jack on trailers I want to hook up to. As always, Etrailer did an outstanding job on getting the part to me in a timely manner.

Working just fine.Thanks for asking.

by:

Perfect fit and now I can open my truck tail gate without hitting the tongue jack!

by:

Bought this a year ago, and I've been towing an 18 foot boat behind a retired ambulance with no trouble. Coating has held up fine. My ambulance has a bumper setup that's resistant to hitches, and this puts the ball solidly behind the bumper. Extra length also keeps the tow rig a little farther from the slimy part of the boat ramp, and keeps the outside corner of the bumper farther from the trailer when backing around a corner.

by:

Attaching the trailer was easy and provided me a higher comfort level when backing up to center the ball under the hitch because I had more room between the coupling and my Tundra. Additionally this product provided me the ability to open my Tundra bed door while my trailer is attached. Lastly it provides me a greater turning radius when backing up. I would recommend this product.

by:

Communication was incredible. eTrailer team looked to find a different hitch as the one I ordered appeared to be back-ordered. I indicated i would wait and within 2 days I was notified by eTrailer that the original one had actually shipped. Great customer service! Thanks

by:

This extended ball mount made it a lot easier to maneuver a 16 foot Airstream. The stock ball mount was pretty stubby and didn't allow for much wiggle room with backing up. And of course the added bonus is I can lower my truck tailgate while hitched to the camper that will come in handy when I install a truck tonneau cover.

by:

I have a 2004 RAV 4 and I was trying to get my ball away from the spare tire carrier. I think I probably would have been fine with the next size (shorter) ball mount and still got the job done. The good news is that with the 2 inch drop, I can open the rear door and it just rubs the seal at the bottom of the door a little bit, but I can still easily open the door. I did not want to drop the ball any lower, So this works out well for my rig.

by:

Just what I needed for my 2020 GMC
Sierra tailgate clearance. Worked out great.

Still working out great

by:

This mount was just long enough for my bike rack to mount to and not interfere with the trailer wheel crank. The service from etrailer.com was excellent. Got the mount to me in record time and packaged to avoid any possible damage. I will definitely return for my other trailer needs to etrailer.com.

by:

Delivered on time and as described. Bought for my utility trailer to avoid smashing my tailgate into the tongue jack. Works as it should and a better alternative than welding on a new piece to move the jack.

by:

Some pictures of the hitch in place. Works very well. Hauled a few trailers already with no issues. Very strong ball mount regarding its long length.

by:

Super fast processing and shipping. Item was delivered less than 48 hours after placing order. Worked perfectly for providing needed clearance between trailer and spare tire on back of Jeep Liberty.

by:

With this long receiver, I can tilt my tailgate down without hitting my trailer jack stand.

by:

The eTrailer staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. The hitch and ball that I ordered fit perfectly on my 2021 Bronco with a 35-in spare tire.

by:

Just what I needed to add clearance for towing our 1962 Shasta Astroflyte that has a bunk that hangs out over the tongue.

by:

Needed to clear the spare tire on my Jeep! This Hidden Hitch product was a perfecr fit!

by:

Just what was needed to allow trailer to be attached to Jeep Liberty that has spare tire on rear door.

  • Can Dual Receiver and Hitch Extender Be Used Together For Towing with a Bike Rack
It would be too dangerous to use the Curt Extender # C45796 with a dual receiver like that as it would put too much movement on all of the different parts and extenders like this cut your tongue weight in half so your Tacoma would be overloaded. Instead I recommend checking out the following parts to see if this will potentially work for your scenario: - Replacement Shank for Gen-Y Adjustable Ball Mount # 325-GH-304 - Thule Camber Bike Rack for 4 Bikes # TH9056 - Hidden Hitch Ball...

  • Extended Ball Mount For Jeep Wrangler To Clear Oversized Spare Tire
For your 2013 Jeep Wrangler JK Unlimited I recommend the Hidden Hitch Ball Mount # 80232. This ball mount has a length of 15-3/4"(400mm) from center of hitch pin hole to center of ball hole. That will give you an additional 3-15/16"(100mm) over your current ball mount.

  • Can I Use an Extended Ball Mount w/ a Hitch Extender?
Yes, you can use the Hidden Hitch Ball Mount item # 80232 with the Draw-Tite Hitch Extender for 2" Hitch Receivers - 18" Long item # HE18. Using this hitch extender will however reduce the capacity of the hitch on your 1999 F-350 by 50%. I recommend using the Buyers Products Hitch Extender w/ Step - 2" Hitch - 18" Long item # 3371804017. It is the same length of 18" but will only reduce your hitches capacity by 1/3.

  • Solution for Needing 6 inch Hitch Extender that Can Tow 5,000 lb Towing Capacity
The Curt hitch extender part # C76DR is a 6 inch extender but it has a 3,500 lb weight capacity that won't work with a 5,000 lb capacity but I do have a solution with an extra long ball mount like the part # 80232 which is 15-3/4 inch length and would give you the additional length you need while still having the capacity you need.

The longest fixed ball mount we offer is the Hidden Hitch Ball Mount part # 80232 which measures 15-3/4" from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the ball hole. Please note, it does have a 6,000 lb weight capacity and can be used in either the rise position at 3/4" or drop position at 2". In order to add a 2" hitch ball you'd need the part # C40004. • Recommendation For Extension For 2019 Honda Pilot For Towing Boat That Doesn't Reduce Capacities
I have a possible option for you, but due to adding another point an extension will reduce your vehicle's capacities by 50%, so you'd only be able to towing something with no more than 250lbs of tongue weight. Instead your only option would be using an extra long ball mount such as the # 80232 which measures 15-3/4" from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the hitch ball hole, which should be quite a bit longer than your current ball mount. This can be used as a 3/4" rise or 2" drop depending on what you're needing. I can certainly point you in the right direction. Unfortunately they do not list the coupler height of your trailer online. Most trailers have a coupler height around 17", so a 2" drop ball mount like the # 80232 should get you pretty close to level. This will help to distribute the weight more evenly across your 2022 Jeep Wrangler 4xe as well as help you keep the trailer tracking straight with the addition of sway control. • How Can Longer Ball Mount Not Reduce Hitch Weight Capacity
Technically any additional length is going to increase leverage on the trailer hitch. But there isn't an exact standard length ball mount so going super technical on how much the force multiplied when the ball mount is beyond a certain length is just not something our manufacturers do. So when you combine that with fact that most ball mounts are not that much longer than others the tongue weight capacity of a vehicle is not reduced when using a longer ball mount like the part # 80232....
